    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This scrapbook is a dark green leather-covered photo album with removable sheets that contain black and white photo snapshots of foundations and fireplace chimneys and surrounds built by Harry Bates (1885-1971) in homes in Worthington and Cummington. There is also one page dedicated to the Bates&#039; 25th wedding anniversary.  Some photos show individuals but most are of house exteriors and interiors.<br />

They purchased the former George Thrasher home on Huntington Road (Rte 112) in 1945 and provided services to tourists as well as displaced refugees following World War II. Their home was purchased in 1965v by the Schrade family. The address is 1190 Huntington Road (Rte. 112)<br />

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Leather-covered day book from a Worthington General Store, with entries from 4 January 1794 through Nov. 18, 1794 detailing day-to-day purchases by named Worthington residents.  Approximately 40-45 sheets, 90 page*s, handwritten entries, mostly legible handwriting.  At least half the pages are fully intact and legible. <br />
<br />
Includes many names of Worthington pioneers, records of purchases, records of debt repayments, and mentions of payments for hired work.  Many men identified with their honorifics (Dr., Ens., Captain, etc.).Also indictations of whether a person was a debtor (dr after the name) or creditor (cr).  Prices shown in pounds/shillings/pence.  <br />
<br />
Approximately half the pages in very good condition; others show varying degrees of insect infiltration, chipping, tearing and other damage. The leather covers have dessicated and shriveled to some degree and while each folio of the sewn binding is intact, they pages are loose from the spine. Preservation work is needed. Purchased on eBay with donations from many WHS supporters. Was found in an antique store in eastern Connecticut by the seller.]]></dcterms:description>
