Black and white Daguerrotype is losing emulsion around the edges but the portrait is quite clear. Its small box is of leather, with redvelved on the inside front cover. Red velvet has an emboxxed image of a fruit basket. This is what protects the fragile image which is mounted under glass, surrounded by a simple gold border, in the second half. Unfortunately, the hinges are broken but the clasp is in tact. It was made by Holmes, on Broadway, New York, New York (address is illegible). Handle with extreme care.<br />
