            Description
Daguerrotype possibly of Austin Healy Buxton, son of Simon and Francis E. Buxton. Could this be a wedding portrait? He married Frances Emeline November 11, 1847. There were five children :
Rebecca, born December 6, 1848
Ella Jane, born August 5, 1850
Charles Noble, born March 20, 1852; died August 7, 1852 (age 4 months)
Edwin Healy, born July 20, 1854
Charles Noble, born September 3, 1855
(see also 2006a-114 this box)
(see also 2004a-034 this box)
Black and white Daguerrotype is losing emulsion around the edges but the portrait is quite clear. Its small box is of leather, with redvelved on the inside front cover. Red velvet has an emboxxed image of a fruit basket. This is what protects the fragile image which is mounted under glass, surrounded by a simple gold border, in the second half. Unfortunately, the hinges are broken but the clasp is in tact. It was made by Holmes, on Broadway, New York, New York (address is illegible). Handle with extreme care.
This artifact is placed within the Buxton Hyde family folder, #2006a-034.
