←Back to Lafayette 200th Anniversary Celebration
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, THIS EVENT HAS RESCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 8, FROM 1:00 TO 3:00.
Meet at Center Cemetery on Sam Hill Road in Worthington, less than half a mile from Rte. 112. This event is free and open to the public. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water.
The Worthington Historical Society (WHS) has teamed with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to identify the graves of Worthington citizens affected by the Revolutionary War. These burial sites include those who fought and those left behind. DAR and WHS members have been diligently searching period records to identify as many potential Revolutionary War Era residents and their gravesites as possible. We conducted aerial mapping of each of the town’s six main cemeteries to locate headstones. Field verification of grave sites continues. As part of our celebration of Lafayette’s visit, we are inviting the public to join us for a cemetery walk to see firsthand the results of this exciting project.
This event has received support from the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
